Suvarnabhumi Airport operates as normal

All services at Suvarnabhumi Airport are operational as normal but passengers should spare extra time for commute.

Mrs. Rawewan Netrakavesna, the General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport, said “due to the announcement of Martial Law in Thailand on the 20th May 2014, there are check points, traffic diversion and traffic closure in some areas and potential traffic congestion is expected. Suvarnabhumi Airport is operating as normal but, nevertheless, we would like to recommend passengers to check for possible routes to the airport and to spare additional time for commute; or the usage of public transportations such as the BTS Skytrain and the MRT metro to connect with the Airport Rail Link to Suvarnabhumi Airport.”

Mrs. Rawewan added “a meeting with various agencies, such as the Airline Operators Committee (AOC) and government agencies, at Suvarnabhumi Airport was held to discuss an emergency response plan. For example, there may be concerns for the utilities at Suvarnabhumi Airport, whereby we already have backups in place for both the electricity and water systems to ensure that there will be no interruptions to our airport operations. Nonetheless, we are monitoring the current situation closely to ensure passengers enjoy convenient and speedy services and flight schedules are uninterrupted.”
