The humble sweet potato takes centre stage in a brand-new feel good Urban Adventure in Taipei that tastes delicious too. The global day tour operator is also giving travellers a few more reasons to visit Europe this summer with new tours in Dubrovnik, Palermo and Venice.
Sweet Potato Mama Project
The sweet potato is an important symbol of Taiwanese cuisine, and the women who serve up that tradition from their street stalls of Taipei are known as Sweet Potato Mamas. Visit the warehouse base of the Sweet Potato Mama industry and learn how this project by the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation trains and equips single mothers to start their own sweet potato business. Then join the Mamas during peak time – 12pm to 1pm – and help them cook and serve the hungry lunchtime crowd. Finish off the tour by eating your own sweet potato roasted by a Mama herself. All proceeds from this tour will go to the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation’s Sweet Potato Mama Project.
