The humble sweet potato takes centre stage in a brand-new feel good Urban Adventure in Taipei that tastes delicious too. The global day tour operator is also giving travellers a few more reasons to visit Europe this summer with new tours in Dubrovnik, Palermo and Venice.

Sweet Potato Mama Project

The sweet potato is an important symbol of Taiwanese cuisine, and the women who serve up that tradition from their street stalls of Taipei are known as Sweet Potato Mamas. Visit the warehouse base of the Sweet Potato Mama unnamed (24)industry and learn how this project by the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation trains and equips single mothers to start their own sweet potato business. Then join the Mamas during peak time – 12pm to 1pm – and help them cook and serve the hungry lunchtime crowd. Finish off the tour by eating your own sweet potato roasted by a Mama herself. All proceeds from this tour will go to the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation’s Sweet Potato Mama Project.

Cost: $49 USD

Duration: 2 hours

Availability: Every day at 11:00am

Street Stories of Palermo

Take a peek inside the walls of Palermo, deep into its back alleys as you hear the city’s stories. Hear about medieval sects and illustrious saints who used to walk the streets of the city and enjoy old churches, lively piazzas and markets. Travellers will be led into the city’s corners, where stories abound and fact and fiction are blurred.

Cost: $62 USD

Duration: 2.5 hours

Availability: Every day excluding Sundays at 10:00am

Canal and Aperitivo Experience

Ditch the gondola and get around the lesser known canals of Venice in a Venetian boat taxi and explore non-touristy sites such as the cemetery island of San Michele. Travellers will ride through the local neighbourhood of Cannaregio and make an aperitivostop in San Marco Bay, where Prosecco and homemade cicchetti await.

Cost: $119 USD

Duration: 2 hours

Availability: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 6.00pm

Croatia Kayak

Dubrovnik is known for its beautiful beaches and the sandy beach at Lopud Island is the perfect spot to launch kayaks into the Adriatic Sea. This kayaking adventure will see travellers visit several islands, swim through caves, snorkel, and maybe even spy a few dolphins. A pit stop at a local village for a local meal on a family farm will provide the fuel needed to make the return voyage.

Cost: $74 USD

Duration: 9 hours

Availability: Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:30-10:00am

Culture Vulture Kolkata

Considered India’s cultural and intellectual capital, Kolkata offers a lot of charm underneath its chaotic streets. The morning tour will give travellers a feel for local life, with visits to a popular flower market, historic landscapes, the dazzling architecture of the ‘Jewel Box Temple’ and a local potters colony with hand crafted clay idols.

Cost: $84 USD

Duration: 4 hours

Availability: Every day at 8:00am
