The freestyle sensation, 17, a winner of four gold medals at this year’s Thai National Age Group Championships, is one of only four Thai athletes picked to compete in the Games.

A key member of Thanyapura’s Elite Junior Sports Academies (EJSA), he will use the venue’s state-of-the-art swimming complex as his training base prior to the 16-28 August event.

“We’re very excited for Nok, and this is another step in his goal of representing Thailand at the 2016 Rio Olympics,” said Mr Chris McCormack, Thanyapura Executive Chairman and a four-time triathlon world champion. unnamed (4)

“When Nok entrusted us with his career, we knew what an awesome responsibility that was, but this is what we do. We harness coaches and sports scientists with the finest facilities and employ a revolutionary three-dimensional mind, body and soul coaching philosophy to tap every ounce of talent an athlete has.”

Nok, who has qualified for four events at the Games, is a leading light in Thanyapura’s ‘Road to Tokyo’ programme, an initiative to propel the next crop of champions to Olympic success, bringing them to the attention of national squads and star-makers.

He receives the best coaching in the country while enrolled in the recently launched Phuket International Academy an international Baccalaureate (IB) World School which, when combined with Thanyapura’s EJSA, is an Asia first where high-level mentoring helps shape young minds.

From August 2014, and in association with the Phuket International Academy, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, full board and week-day boarding options at a purpose-built facility will be available to all students and athletes (13-18 years) at its Junior Sport Academies. That will enable Nok to train, board and study at Thanyapura and, in turn, make him even better.

Thanyapura’s swimming facilities include a 50m Olympic competition pool, a 25m training and teaching pool, Omega Track start blocks, a Daktronics timing system and scoreboard, an underwater video analysis window, ozone filtration and sports science services.

Nok is a long-distance specialist who won two gold and set a meet record at the Singapore Age Group Championships in March, which followed a bronze in the 400m freestyle at last year’s SEA Games. Leading US coach Randy Simon said the EJSA would give his charge the extra edge needed to succeed.
