Swiss-Belhotel International, the global hospitality management chain, has unveiled an exciting new upscale hotel on Indonesia’s Bangka Island, which blends world-class hospitality with the area’s classical heritage.

Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang officially opened on Saturday 9th June 2018 and is located in the heart of Pangkalpinang – the provincial capital of the Bangka Belitung Islands, which lie just off the east coast of Sumatra.

This new-build hotel exudes contemporary style; all 145 rooms and suites feature a full range of conveniences and connections, including complimentary Wi-Fi, international plug sockets, laptop-sized safes, mini-bars, kettles and cable TV.

The hotel’s Swiss-Café™ Restaurant, lobby lounge, wine bar, 24-hour room service, fitness centre, spa and outdoor swimming pool ensure that guests can stay fully refreshed throughout their stay. Meanwhile, three meeting rooms and a ballroom provide flexible options for all types of event, from intimate gatherings to major occasions for up to 875 people.

Balancing this modernity is The House of Lay, a classical Malayan-style home located directly adjacent to the hotel which is now an authentic local restaurant. Dating back to 1860, it is one of the oldest buildings in the city and provides the perfect contrast to the new hotel.

“With their diverse history, strategic location and rich natural resources, the Bangka Belitung Islands have developed their own distinctive cultural style and charm. Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang will bring contemporary hospitality to these islands while also showcasing the area’s unique heritage,” commented Gavin M. Faull, Chairman and President of Swiss-Belhotel International.

“The islands are a major centre for several industries, including oil and gas exploration, so Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang will provide a convenient base and complete facilities for corporate guests. We will also welcome the rising number of leisure travellers who are starting to discover the beautiful beaches, crystal clear seas and rich culture of these idyllic islands,” Mr Faull added.

Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang is located in the heart of Pangkalpinang’s main business and entertainment district. It is also just five kilometres from Depati Amir Airport, the main air gateway to Bangka Island which offers direct connections to and from Jakarta, Palembang and other Indonesian cities.

Local attractions include the Bangka Botanical Garden, Pemali Hot Springs and a series of stunning sandy beaches, while Chinese temples, fishing villages and a tin mining museum showcase the area’s diverse heritage.

Indonesia is already a key destination for Swiss-Belhotel, with 65 properties currently operating all across the country, from major tourist centres to emerging destinations. This nationwide portfolio will increase sharply in the years ahead, with approximately 30 new hotels and resorts in the pipeline.

Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang is offering an introductory rate of just IDR599,000 net per night for two people sharing a Deluxe Room. This offer is valid for stays from 10th June to 10th July 2018.
