Swiss-Belhotel International Grows Indonesia Portfolio With Groundbreaking For Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang, Bangka

Leading global hospitality management chain Swiss-Belhotel International recently broke ground for Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang, Bangka. 


The four-star international property will be located in Pangkalpinang’s central business district, with its contemporary design juxtaposed against a local heritage building in its precinct.

Scheduled to open in 2015, the 141-room property is strategically located for leisure and business travelers and its features will include a restaurant, bars, function and meeting space as well as a swimming pool, gym and spa. 

Mr. Emmanuel Guillard, Swiss-Belhotel International Senior Vice President of Operations and Development, said: “We are delighted to add Swiss-Belhotel Pangkalpinang to our portfolio in the western region of Indonesia. 

“It will be ideally positioned to attract business and leisure travelers, providing affordable accommodation and a high level of service and professionalism in the heart of the city.” 

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by PT Bangun Mega Lestari executives Mr. Hendra Lie (President Commissioner), Mr. Saly Listiyadhi (Commissioner) and Mr. Hongky Listiyadhi (President Director) while Swiss-Belhotel International was represented by Mr. Guillard. 

Within two years Swiss-Belhotel International will operate 97 hotels and resort in Indonesia, where it has been voted the country’s Leading Global Hotel Chain at the Indonesian Travel and Tourism Awards the past four years. 

The 334-room property will be part of a mixed waterfront development that will include retail shopping, a commercial district and a business park. The hotel’s facilities will include restaurants, a ballroom and meeting facilities, a business centre, swimming pool and water park, sky deck and lounge, plus gym, spa and Jacuzzi. 

Swiss-Belhotel International Chairman and President Mr. Gavin M. Faull said: “We are delighted to be expanding our presence in Malaysia and we will look forward to replicating our international brand standards there, bringing efficient service and a high level of professionalism to the market.” 

News of the four-star property’s conception follows a spate of recent hotel and resort launch announcements from the Hong Kong based company, which is expanding throughout the Asia-Pacific and Middle East while eyeing other parts of the world. 

The hotel management company will extend its range of two- to five-star brands into markets that include the Middle East, where the Swiss-Belhotel Seef in Bahrain, Swiss-Belinn Ghubrah Muscat in Oman will be opened this year and join the existing Swiss-Belhotel Plaza in Kuwait and Qatar’s Swiss-Belhotel Doha. In 2015, Swiss-Belhotel Erbil in Iraq and Saudi Arabia’s Swiss-Belhotel Riyadh will open. 

Indonesia is the country where Swiss-Belhotel International has the biggest presence. It operates 39 hotels there, with 15 more coming in 2014 including a 5-star hotel – Ciputra World Surabaya. The company’s Indonesian portfolio will contain 97 hotels and resorts within two years, where Swiss-Belhotel International has been voted Indonesia’s Leading Global Hotel Chain at the Indonesian Travel and Tourism Awards the past four years.
