Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) transported 3,497,761 passengers in the first three months of 2016 – a slight 1.0% decline on the same period last year. SWISS offered 2.3% more capacity in the period in available seat-kilometre (ASK) terms. Total traffic volume, measured in revenue passenger-kilometres (RPKs), fell 1.7%.
First-quarter systemwide seat load factor declined accordingly, falling 3.0 percentage points to 75.9%. A total of 34,239 flights were operated in the period, up 2.7%.
A total of 1,292,192 travellers flew with SWISS in March 2016, some 0.9% fewer than in the same month last year. Total ASK capacity was raised 2.0%, while total RPK traffic volume saw a 2.9% decline. Systemwide seat load factor for the month was 4.0 percentage points down at 77.6%. SWISS operated 11,942 flights in March, 2.6% more than in the same month last year.
