SWISS carries more passengers in June
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS)1 transported 7,709,976 passengers in the first six months of 2016, a slight 0.9% decline on the same period last year. At the same time, the 71,827 flights operated in the first half of 2016 represented a 1.4% increase on the prior-year period. Total first-half capacity was raised 4% in available seat-kilometre (ASK) terms, while total traffic volume, measured in revenue passenger-kilometres (RPKs), was up 0.5% for the period. Systemwide seat load factor responded accordingly: the 78.5% recorded for the period was a 2.8-percentage-point decline on the first half of 2015.
In June 2016 SWISS conveyed a total of 1,422,950 passengers, 0.7% more than in the same month last year. The 12,498 flights performed for the month were also a 1.2% increase on the prior-year period. Total ASK capacity was up 7.6%, while total RPK traffic volume showed a 4.5% rise. Systemwide seat load factor for June stood at 83.2%, a 2.5-percentage-point decline.
