Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS)1 transported 12,495,404 passengers in the first nine months of 2016, some 0.2% more than in the same period last year. The airline operated 111,116 flights in the period, 1.0% more than a year ago. Total systemwide capacity was increased 6.2% in available seat-kilometre (ASK) terms, while total traffic volume, measured in revenue passenger-kilometres (RPKs), was raised 3.0%. Systemwide seat load factor for the first nine months amounted to 81.3%, a 2.6-percentage-point decline on the prior-year period.
For September 2016 SWISS carried a total of 1,510,095 passengers, a 3.5% improvement on the same month a year ago. The 12,724 flights operated were an increase of 1.0%, and systemwide ASK capacity was raised 12.4%. Total RPK traffic volume was 9.0% above its September 2015 level. Systemwide seat load factor for the month amounted to 83.4%, a decline of 2.6 percentage points.
