SWISS to expand its culinary partnership with the Peninsula hotel group

SWISS is to expand its partnership with Peninsula Hotels under which the hotel group’s executive chef Florian Trento creates meals for SWISS First and SWISS Business guests.

In addition to its Hong Kong-Zurich flights, which have enjoyed it since 2009, SWISS will be extending the feature to its westbound services from Bangkok, Shanghai and Beijing over the next few months. 

SWI012074ISWISS is intensifying its collaboration with Peninsula Hotels to offer Swiss-styled meals to its travellers from the Asia-Pacific region. Having featured on Zurich-bound flights from Hong Kong since 2009, the special creations of Peninsula Group Executive Chef Florian Trento will now be offered on further westbound SWISS services from Bangkok (from March), Shanghai (from June) and Beijing (from September). All of Trento’s creations combine his strong ties to his native Switzerland with the quality philosophy of the luxury Peninsula hotel group.

“Florian Trento’s meals are very popular with our customers, because they so deftly blend Swissness with international flair,” says Frank Maier, Head of Product & Services at SWISS. “So we’re all the more delighted that we will now be offering his creations on our services to Switzerland from further Asian destinations.”

Florian TrentoFlorian Trento’s concoctions form part of SWISS’s award-winning ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ inflight foodservice concept. Under the regularly-rotating programme, SWISS offers its First and Business Class guests on long-haul services from Switzerland the culinary creations of reputed Swiss chefs from different parts of its home country. The programme was first extended outside Switzerland in 2009, when a new partnership with Peninsula Hotels saw Florian Trento’s creations offered on Hong Kong-Zurich flights. Trento’s meals – which, as in the original programme, are changed every three months – are also offered with a selection of cheeses and wines from the current ‘host’ Swiss region.
