Swissôtel Sydney Promotes Health & Wellbeing During Annual Vitality Week Celebrations

March 9, 2017 Food & Beverage No Comments Email Email

In celebration of Vitality Week, 20-26 March 2017, Swissôtel Sydney will deliver a range of inspiring healthy menu items and activities designed to help guests maintain their mental and physical wellbeing.

During this week guests will enjoy locally-brewed Kombucha tea on arrival, a fruit and vegetable lobby display ripe for the picking, popular breakfast bowls and the option to partake in daily walks hosted by passionate staff members.

The five-star hotel’s Executive Chef Joshua Askerw, has also introduced a new $25 weekday Vitality Lunch, with a goal to deliver a nutrient-filled dining experience on an ongoing basis to health conscious Sydneysiders and hotel guests.

Chef Askerw’s Vitality Menu features a palate cleaning detox shot such as spirulina, wheatgrass, beetroot or acai, followed by either a Vitality Bowl, Power Protein Salad or Sandwich, plus an accompanying drink including cold-press juices. All menu items are made with fresh seasonal ingredients, including honey direct from Swissôtel Sydney’s rooftop beehive, and will alternate on a weekly basis to ensure the best use of local produce.

Chef Askerw’s Vitality Week menu features poached chicken Vitality Bowl with green tea soba noodles, avocado, cabbage, asian herbs, sesame seeds, edamame, Pan seared Ora King salmon Power Protein Salad with fennel, radish, asparagus, labneh, roasted almonds, wild rocket, dill oil as well as a rooftop honey glazed ham Sandwich with tomato, Swiss cheese, seeded mustard, pickles, grilled zucchini on sour dough.

“All of the ingredients in this menu have been carefully considered. Something as simple as quinoa can be excellent for travellers in relieving altitude sickness due to its rich oxygen-carrying iron whilst proteins, such as low-GI beans, fish, chicken and beef, will keep the stomach satisfied for longer, and keep the brain alert with essential amino acids.” says Executive Chef Joshua Askew.

Vitality Lunch is available weekdays from 12 – 3pm for $25. To book call +61 (2) 9238 8888 or email

Vitality Week aims to raise the awareness for Swissôtel’s global Vitality Programme, which is in effect year-round, and offer guests access to local jogging maps, Vitality Guides curated by Alpinist and travel writer John Harlin, welcome Vitality Drinks made with fresh fruit and vegetables and in-room digital detox guides on turn down.

Vitality Week Highlights:

  • Daily Walks – Swissôtel Sydney staff members will lead guests on a 5km walk around Sydney landmarks such as Hyde Park, Royal Botanic Gardens and the Sydney Opera House twice a day at both 7.30am and 6pm.
  • Locally Brewed Kombucha – A fermented effervescent tea that is known to provide excellent health benefits including immune boosting, detoxification and strengthening of the joints.
  • Vitality Breakfast Bowls – Picking up on the current breakfast food trend, guests can look forward to specials such as chia seed oatmeal porridge with almond milk and berries as well as sweet coconut quinoa with sticky mango in place of the regular breakfast buffet.
  • 5-a-day Lobby Display – The internationally well-known ‘5-a-day’ initiative aims to improve public health by encouraging people to eat more fruit and vegetables. In many countries, people are told to consume five portions of fruit and vegetables each day. Swissôtel Sydney will have a fruit display in the lobby for guests to help themselves to throughout the day.
