Switzerland ‘Views’ for youth and families

egtmedia59Switzerland Tourism announced 2014 as the year of “Views” in Mumbai on Wednesday. The theme will have a special focus on youth between 12 and 24 and continue to target its traditional family clientele.

Swiss delegation at the press conference in MumbaiMr. Stephen Heuberger, Director, Switzerland Tourism India said: “Switzerland Tourism is targeting two distinctive type of growing segments- families who travel with children and grandparents, sometimes with extended families and friends. This group looks for the classical Swiss experiences such as mountain excursions, scenic trains and sightseeing. Travelers in the second, youth segment, who now have increased spending power to travel on their own, are looking for new experiences that include active holidays, new cuisines, new destinations and new adventures. They usually look for accommodation in youth hostels and homestays for both economy and for local experience.”

Switzerland Tourism will continue to focus on MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) through its specialised MICE division – SCIB (Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau).

Mr Stephan Heuberger, Director, Switzerland Tourism IndiaAs part of ‘Views’, Switzerland Tourism is planning varied marketing activities ranging from consumer reach out programs, e-marketing, advertising campaigns on popular print and television media and training programs for travel agents.

Smaller travel agents will be trained to specialize on Switzerland and promotions in 2nd and 3rd tier cities will continue in 2014. Presence on social media platforms will be extended.

Arrivals from India to Switzerland have grown at  250% in 10 years. India is amongst top 12 source markets and among the top four strategic growth markets for Switzerland Tourism together with China, Brazil and GCC (Gulf countries) .

Switzerland Tourism is aiming for 10 percent growth in India arrivals with beyond 550,000 overnights this year.
