Ragaz Sauna Village opens its doors just in time for the 10th anniversary of the “new” Tamina Therme. The substantial sauna are in Tamina Therme has been extended by approximately 1000 m2 and now houses the largest infusion sauna in Switzerland. Around three million Swiss Francs have been invested in the expansion.

1000 square metres of space, three houses and a pond – these are the ingredients which complete the new Ragaz Sauna Village in Tamina Therme. With an investment of some three million Swiss Francs and a construction period of six months a new village was created on the Tamina Therme site: Ragaz Sauna Village. Managing Director of Tamina Therme, Daniel Grünenfelder, is proud of the new build and committed to its new offering. “Now we can better showcase our competency in health and wellbeing.” As well as concentrating on constructing the expansion, those in charge have paid a great deal of attention to developing the offering. By narrowing the sauna’s offering down to two key factors – tranquillity/health and entertainment/experience – the managers, along with Head of Operations Annette Fink, have strengthened their clear focus on the guests.

Ragaz Sauna Village – with the largest infusion sauna in Switzerland – is at the heart of a well-balanced sauna culture. “We are continuously working to expand the variety on offer in our baths and saunas,” explains Daniel Grünenfelder. In the new sauna village two buildings in particular stand out for being built entirely of Scandinavian Kelo wood. The dead polar pine has dried out under natural conditions and is the perfect material for building saunas due to its robust and insulating qualities. The wood’s intense aroma is also quite special which guests can smell from afar and which fills the interior of the saunas.

Thermal Water – the Elixir of Life
The Ragaz thermal water has always been and always will be at the heart of any concerns. “We have this unique water which represents the life elixir of our thermal baths and we want to bring our guests nearer to the energy of this element every day,” says Daniel Grünenfelder. And in order to make this precise unique quality an everyday experience, the mineral infusion ritual was created which will now be conducted four times every day in the bathing area. A special salt was developed for this ritual, comprising magnesium, calcium and lithium. When this salt comes into contact with water it gives off its energy and warms up literally in the guests’ hands.

Healthy Snacks
The sauna’s offering is complimented by the Sauna Lounge Hermitage, which exudes a very particular charm one of in the oldest buildings within the whole of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. Inside, guests are pampered with food and drink which is aligned to the body’s needs before, during or after taking a sauna.

During the opening weekend from 1st to 3rd February 2019 guests can expect an exciting programme of events with high profile guests from the world of saunas. Guests can experience an exceptional infusion ceremony with the 2017 world champion Jiri from Poland. There will also be a relaxing singing bowl ritual with Frits and Yvonne from the Netherlands and the Latvian pirts sauna ritual is just waiting to be discovered. Those looking for a more flamboyant show need look no further than the performance by Ole, Olaf and Christian from Germany. They will be gracing the sauna stage several times during opening week as Blue Man Group.
