Sydney Airport has today called for expressions of interest for its official charity partner for the 2017 Sydney Airport Community Christmas Giving Appeal.http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/

Applications are now open for a new charity partner for the appeal, which has raised over
$1 million since 2012.

Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said the appeal was a unique collaboration involving the charity, volunteers, corporate partners and the wider airport community.

“We’re thrilled to be running the sixth annual Christmas Appeal this year. It’s a fantastic initiative that shines the spotlight on a charity and harnesses the generosity of the airport community to raise much-needed awareness and funds for the charities it supports,” Ms Mather said.

“Our appeal has an excellent fundraising track record thanks to the generosity of the millions of passengers and visitors who use our terminals during November and December – as well as many of the 800 businesses on the airport, and our off-airport partners, who form part of the airport community.

“More than 5.2 million people travelled through Sydney Airport in the six weeks before Christmas last year, raising a record $316,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

“These funds will provide 2,396 accommodation nights for families across NSW who come to Sydney to seek medical treatment for their children.”

Key highlights of the 2016 appeal were our iconic runway run, giving members of the public the chance to run on the airfield for the first time; a Dinner at Dusk hangar dinner; entertainment; activations and volunteer collections across the airport.

Sydney Airport and its new charity partner will work together to deliver a fresh and exciting campaign, including festive fundraising activations, merchandise and donation collections.

The appeal forms a key part of our investment in the community, with Sydney Airport contributing $3.3 million in funding and in-kind support for charities, events, schools sporting clubs and community groups in 2016.

Applications are now open and submissions must be received by 5pm on Friday, 28 April. Visit our website for more information.
