Destination NSW today announced support for Sydney boxer Billy ‘The Kid’ Dib in the lead up to his International Boxing Federation (IBF) Featherweight World Title bout against Russian Evgeny Gradovich, in Macau on 23 November 2013.

Destination NSW, CEO, Sandra Chipchase, said the sponsorship will see the Sydney.com logo appear on various items of Billy Dib’s apparel in the lead-up to, during and after the bout.

Ms Chipchase said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to back a great local athlete and provide an additional platform to promote Sydney and NSW into some of NSW’s key tourism markets.

“Support will be placed towards Dib’s training camp and pre-fight preparation to ensure his peak condition prior to the bout.

“Twenty thousand people are expected to attend the event in Macau, and the broadcast will feature on American cable and satellite television network HBO, with an anticipated audience in excess of 1,000,000 subscribers across the four bouts to be aired that evening.

“Our websites Sydney.com and visitnsw.com currently average more than 1.25 million visits a month, with 43% of all other State Tourism Organisations. Both sites combined rank number 8 in the Hitwise Top 10 Travel & Destination sites in Australia.

“There will be great interest in the Featherweight World Title bout providing the Sydney.com brand and website with even greater exposure to an instant global audience.”

Billy Dib, an Engadine local began his training at his community PCYC and caught the attention of a trainer who saw his special talents.
