Sydney to get Rolling Stones Golden Jubilee

egtmedia59The Rolling Stones, believe it or not, are about to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and Sydney is the place to see it – but not quite yet.

Sydney has secured the Australian exclusive of Exhibitionism, the critically acclaimed multimedia exhibition celebrating 50 years of the Rolling Stones. The Stones are an institution and have survived the decades. Drummer Charlie Watts is now aged 75.

The 50th anniversary celebration is not happening yet, however. NSW Premier Mike Baird said the exhibition was making its way around the world and would arrive in Sydney in 2018.

“We’re pleased the greatest rock band of all time has selected Sydney as the only Australian stop on the global tour of their exhibition,” Baird said.

“It’s a great endorsement for Sydney as Australia’s event capital and we look forward to hosting Exhibitionism at the new International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney.”

NSW Minister for Major Events and Tourism Stuart Ayres said, “We have a proven track record in hosting world-class events and expect this exhibition will attract thousands of people to Sydney and deliver an estimated AUD 35 million to the local economy.”

Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, 73, said, “We’ve been thinking about this for quite a long time but we wanted it to be just right and on a large scale. It’s not going to be like walking into a museum. It’s going to be an event, an experience. It’s about a sense of the Rolling Stones – it’s something we want people to go away talking about.”

“While this is about the Rolling Stones, it’s not necessarily only just about us,” said Keith Richards, 72. “It’s also about all the paraphernalia and technology associated with a group like us, and it’s this, as well as the instruments that have passed through our hands over the years, that should make the exhibition unforgettable.”

The multi-media experience celebrates the Rolling Stones’ incredible recording and touring career and features their artistic collaborations in music, art and design, film, video, fashion, and live performance, with over 500 original artefacts from the band’s archives.

Exhibitionism was secured by Destination NSW in conjunction with TEG Live and iEC Exhibitions! and will open at the ICC Sydney in November 2018. For more information visit:
