Sydney’s Event Showcase – teaches the fundamental principles of design

Sydney’s Event Showcase is proud to present Good Event Design – learn the ground rules of success as part of its Event Seminar program.

This thought provoking seminar will be presented by Dr Brandon Gien, world-renowned expert on design, Managing Director of Good Design Australia, Chair of the Australian International Design Awards and President-Elect of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design and Mr Rob Frank, Managing & Creative Director of Verve Creative Events.

Set to educate, inspire and provide one hugely popular theatrical experience at this year’s Showcase, Dr Gien and Mr Frank will delve into how the fundamental principles of design must be applied to an event in order for it to deliver a tangible return on investment.

The Good Event Design – learn the ground rules of success seminar will teach attendees:

  • How to find or understand what the client’s objectives are, not only about the event itself, but more importantly what the outcome needs to be in the days, weeks and months post the event;
  • What elements the event needs to assist in achieving the objectives; and
  • How to incorporate those elements, so that the audience is engaged and responsive.

On discussing his motivation for being part of the session, Mr Frank explains that the event landscape has changed. Events are now, less about ‘just attending’ and more about the ongoing benefit after the experience for both the organiser and the attendee.  Fundamental to the success of the event experience is the design of the event.

“It’s time for people to shift their thinking. The design of an event is so much more than the colour of a tablecloth and the shape of table centres. A deep understanding of the client’s desired outcome must come first,” urged Mr Frank.

Karen Krieger, Event Director of Sydney’s Event Showcase, was keen to focus on this subject and believes that good design is a crucial part of event management delivery.

“In 2013, Sydney’s Event Showcase has an objective to provide visitors with key learning points, something we now have a really strong offering for through the Event Seminar program. Sydney’s Event Showcase is now the go to place for education and inspiration for events, and with experts like Dr Brandon Gien and Rob Frank, visitors can expect to gain solid insight on how to incorporate good design,” stated Ms Krieger.
