TAAI signs Memorandum of Understanding with the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA)

MOU - TAAI & Visit BritainTAAI and ETOA signed an MOU on 30th January 2014, in New Delhi.The intent of this Memorandum is to create a positive business environment for the travel industries of the two countries of Britain – India and to address issues that have been hindrances to growth in the past.

It also  attempts to define the common territory between the associations and establishes a framework within which the associations can jointly develop and create programs.  A sure  catalyst for action !   ETOA was founded in 1989 by a group of tour operators who wanted representation in Europe. The trade association represents the interests of international inbound and intra-European tour operators and their suppliers.  MOU - TAAI & Visit Britain1

H.E. Sir James Bevan KCMG, British High Commissioner to India witnessed the proceeding and stated that India and Britain go a long way in history. Describing the warmth for every European and Indian towards each other and sharing of their cultures has always been essential for tourism.

President, Iqbal Mulla speaking at the formal gathering in Delhi stated that London is a dream destination for every Indian. This understanding of bilateral tourism exchange and collaboration shall boost not only Britain’s tourism but also spread and attract  more tourists to India. TAAI extended its full support for increasing the tourism potential of both nations.

TAAI will work along with Visit Britain and ETOA to:

Ø  Identify and remove barriers that hinder growth of travel between the two countries

Ø  Jointly organise seminars, workshops and face to face meetings wherever possible with an intent to explore new opportunities and avenues to grow tourism between the countries

Ø  Enhance perception of UK as a warm and welcoming destination

Ø  Address the issues and understand the nuances of doing business in India and its unique market dynamics

Further, the 2 associations propose to : MOU - TAAI & Visit Britain2

Ø  Work towards creating a common voice to address any visa issues in India, identify issues that lead to loss in business

Ø  Identify issues with the visa process and jointly propose changes that streamline the process without infringing security issues

Ø  Develop and propose preferred agents scheme to UKVI for the India market.

Also present at this historic event were Mr. Karan Anand, Head – Relationships – ETOA, Ms. Sandie Dawe, CEO, Visit Brtain, Ms. Shivali Suri,  Country Manager India, Mr. Vishal Bhatia – Deputy Manager, India.

TAAI was represented besides the President by Mr. Harmandeep Singh Anand, HSG, Mr. Jay Bhatia, Chairman – Tourism Council, Mr. Sampat Damani – Chairman WR, Mr. Shreeram Patel, Chairman – Gujarat and other senior members of TAAI.
