TAAI Signs MOU with Tourism Malaysia

Travel Agents Association of India Tourism  and Tourism Malaysia Mumbai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)   at its Mumbai office on 22 June 2017,  for a product workshop training called ‘Malaysia –Beyond KL’ being offered to members of TAAI Western Region.  The MoU was signed by Nor Shazly Azmi, Deputy Director, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board and Marzban Antia, Vice President, TAAI in the presence of Jay Bhatia, National Honorary Treasurer  and Western Region office-bearers Chairman Sampat Damani, Secretary, Sameer Karnani and treasurer Madhuri Kang.

The MoU signed will focus on training and educating  front-liners and product teams from amongst  TAAI members.

Tourism Malaysia  has  launched a concise booklet on Malaysia that features 1,001 packages and aims to serve as a ready-reckoner for agents who want to sell the destination. Fourteen states from Malaysia have worked out detailed packages in this booklet along with pricing.

Said  Nor Shazly Azmi, Deputy Director – Tourism Malaysia Mumbai,   “Malaysia is much more than Kuala Lumpur and we are working to increase our tourism by showing the beauty that Malaysia offers.  Through this initiative, we are planning to focus on offbeat destinations such as Sabah and Sarawak.”

The training will start from the end of  June 2017 and will go on till September 2017. It will take place in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Goa, Chhattisgarh, etc. for the present.

Through classroom sessions slated  every week on Thursdays and Fridays, Malaysia Tourism representatives  will  focus on  subjects that are  related to tourism and around 15 agents will be educated  at each three-hour sessions.

On completion of the training, participants will be issued co-branded Malaysia Master certificates.

What’s more,  each participating  agent will have to draft 5 packages and itineraries and submit it to Malaysia Tourism. who after  reviewing  the same  will select  the top 10. These  agents will be taken on a familiarization trip to Malaysia to gain first-hand knowledge of the destination.
