Entering their 3rd year, the 2016 MICE Job Fairs were held on May 13th and 21st in Taipei and Kaohsiung respectively. With a total of 50 firms attending, there were over 400 interview opportunities.
Due to Taiwan’s growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) industry, the scale of this year’s MICE Job Fairs was larger than that of the previous two years, showing a 50% growth of job applicants.
The organizer, TAITRA, stated that the lineup of firms this year included many leading domestic MICE-related firms such as Uniplan, Kuei Jung, Top Link, Chan Chao, and GIS. There was a great diversity of job openings in corporate conference and events marketing that included planning director, project executives, domestic and foreign sales, visual and spatial designers, public relations personnel, and others. Companies offered internships, full-time jobs, and management level job opportunities for applicants of different levels of education and work experience, attracting top university graduates such as those from National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University, overseas Taiwanese students returning from USA, Canada, the UK, and Switzerland, plus people who are already in the MICE industry.
Having the most job openings, Kuei Jung Exhibition Co.’s General Manager Mr. Chou stated that as their business has expanded throughout Taiwan, they try to find qualified talent through TAITRA’s MICE Job Fairs. Associate Manager Mr. Lin of Top Link pointed out that job applicants from MICE Job Fairs have already passed the first stage of screening, which is beneficial to employers. In Kaohsiung, Vice General Manager Mr. Yang of ICCK said that as the MICE business expands, the demand for personnel increases, so they attend the MICE Job Fair to find suitable applicants. Job applicants indicated that this event was much focused. Within the short span of one afternoon, they had easy access to numerous interview opportunities with different firms, making it an extremely efficient job fair.
