Taitung Makapahay Cultural Festival Starting in July, Great Chance to Experience Traditional Tribal Culture
The 2015 Love at Taitung Makapahay Cultural Festival, organized by Taitung City Government, will start from July 4th to be in line with the joint harvest festivals of all the tribes in the region. The festival will fascinate visitors with a series of activities such as Makapahay singing competitions, traditional archery contests, Makapahay night fireworks show, and more. Taitung Mayor Kuo-Chou Chang welcomes everyone from both home and abroad to visit Taitung and be an honorable guest of the harvest festival.
According to the Taitung City Government Indigenous People Division, the Makapahay Cultural Festival will feature a string of fascinating events held throughout Taitung County, including a Kaloloan Music Festival and Taitung International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. In addition, there will be activities ranging from a traditional harvest festival to pop music concerts and a creative runway show. Taitung is a perfect destination for backpackers, travel experts, and even the whole family to take a trip in summertime and experience the beauty of its rich culture.
In addition, the island-wide Amis tribe joint harvest festival is scheduled to be held at Paposogan of the Taitung City Seashore Park on August 1st, the Indigenous People Memorial Day, and that evening will light up with the Makapahay night laser fireworks show. Moreover, a creative handicraft market and tribal classroom will be organized in the neighborhood for the public to try indigenous handcrafts and get a feel for traditional tribal weaving.
The harvest festival of most tribes fall between July 4th to 26th and the exact dates and locations for each tribe will be announced separately.
