Taiwan’s MICE industry has shown dramatic growth in both service qualities and hardware build-up including convention centres and Exhibition facilities. Last year in 2015, Taiwan ranked 33th in global MICE rankings by ICCA, and propelled to No. 8 in Asia.

Taiwan is the hottest destination for tourism, incentive travel as well as meeting and events in Asia recent years. The number of inbound visitors to Taiwan broke 10 million in 2015 and is expected to keep growing this year. Taiwan was reported as one of the“10 best value destinations for 2015” by Lonely Planet and “Top 10 Emerging travel destinations in 2016” by Business Insider.

Early this year a new MICE venue was open for use: the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center located in southern Taiwan which is the best exhibition center with modern meeting and exhibition facilities in the southern port city for events. Moreover, there are more and more investments from international hotel chains in Taiwan in recent years including globally well-known Regent, W Hotel, Mandarin Oriental, Le Méridien and Humble House, and the brand new Marriott Taipei due opening this year. To further encourage overseas business groups to travel to Taiwan, the government continues to offer various support including subsidies.

Taiwan Tourism Bureau also provides administrative support and subsidies to encourage incoming meeting and incentive travel groups, which includes tour planning assistance, cultural performances and special souvenirs etc.. Financial grants range from USD 1,000 to 60,000 depending on the size of group.
