Travel Insurance Direct releases guest version of their one-of-a-kind mobile app
Travel guides, phrasebooks and safety advice are essential when travelling – and now, all three are available free in one handy mobile app!

Following the successful launch of Tripwise in 2012, Travel Insurance Direct, Australia’s leading online travel insurance provider, has released a new version of the app.  Following popular demand, Tripwise is no longer just for policy holders, but is now the essential tool for all travellers available free to download from the App Store.

Tripwise is not just an insurance app.  It puts practical, expert advice and information tailored specifically to the users’ journey, conveniently in the palm of their hands.

The guest version of this intelligent app features a range of integral information including passport, visa and vaccination requirements, a worldwide health guide, an audio phrasebook in 24 languages and insights into the culture and customs of over 100 destinations worldwide. With practical tips on smart travelling (like the practice of tipping) and travel alerts to keep you safe (such as highlighting common crimes and scams), Tripwise is like having a private travel guide in your pocket!

Policy holders who log in also have easy access to emergency assistance, exclusive content and extended articles, locations of major medical facilities, claim guides and their policy details at their fingertips.

Travel Insurance Direct’s General Manager, Diana Watts says, “We are excited to offer Tripwise to all travellers, and to give everyone the tools to travel wisely.  We want people to explore the world and have a great time while doing so.  Tripwise is designed to help travellers stay out of trouble and have a fantastic trip. The easy to use app allows everyone to learn more about where they’re going, and offers tips on what they’ll need to make their trip go more smoothly.”

Mobile phones have quickly become a must-have travel accessory with a recent TID survey* revealing that 87% of customers take their mobile phone with them on holidays. Globetrotters can download Tripwise before they go to avoid roaming charges and sync the app regularly while on the road (Tripwise has tips on how to do this cheaply) to receive up-to-date advice and important destination alerts.

Android users will be able to download the guest version from Google Play later this year.
