The Sydney Opera House has re-launched its Taste of the Opera House dining tour, giving foodies the chance to experience the best in local cuisine paired with sparkling Sydney Harbour views, insider tales of rock stars and prima donnas and a side of modern Australian culture.

Since its launch in 2016, the all-inclusive degustation experience has been a sell-out success. The new Taste of the Opera House showcases the distinct offerings of four of the Opera House’s leading restaurants with menu highlights including:

  • A hands on cocktail lesson with one of Opera Bar’s top mixologists where guests will learn to create signature cocktail the Sydney Sling, to be enjoyed with a selection of seasonal seafood and charcuterie from the Raw Bar and Meat + Cheese Room;
  • An open air sushi-making masterclass at Opera Kitchen; where guests will assemble hand rolls, nigiri and slice sashimi, complemented with a glass of Rihaku Tokubetsu Junmai saké by the water’s edge.
  • A leisurely lunch of succulent roast lamb, spiced pastie, goats curd, tomato, tarragon and green olive from Portside Sydney’s Executive Chef Daniel Stewart, paired with two leading New South Wales wines; and
  • Executive Chef, Peter Gilmore’s signature crème caramel vs mille-feuille dessert at Bennelong, with a butterscotch and spiced apple Old Fashioned served theatrically beneath a cloud of sweet spice smoke.

The intimate small-group experience is led by a Sydney Opera House guide to bring the performances, architecture and dramatic history of the Opera House to life, while a host at each restaurant describes the provenance of ingredients used and the inspiration behind their menus.

Nicola Brandon, Sydney Opera House Head of Tours, says: “Whether you’re a Sydneysider or international visitor, food brings us together and is a fantastic way to explore a city. Wining and dining around the Opera House showcases the best in our local food, history and views all in one afternoon.

“More than 1300 people take a tour of the Opera House each day, but the lucky few who choose Taste of the Opera House will leave with a unique gastronomic experience, new culinary skills and a host of conversation starters for their next dinner party.”

Taste of the Opera House runs once a month on a Sunday (dates vary) from 10:45am to 2:30pm for a maximum of 10 people. Tickets are $295 per person.
