Tasting Australia heads to the Yorke Peninsula

Tasting Australia will visit the Yorke Peninsula for the first time this April and May for an eightday celebration of South Australia’s culinary excellence.

The iconic food and wine festival is led by patron and Barossa legend Maggie Beer, creative director Simon Bryant (The Cook and The Chef) and creative curator Jock Zonfrillo (Restaurant Orana, Adelaide). “The city is just the start (of Tasting Australia) – get out to our regions, visit a farm and meet the producer, enjoy a wine masterclass or personalised tasting with the winemaker, harvest olives, make sausages or discover a regional gem,” Bryant said.

“We’re inviting you to get your mates together, experience something new, discuss the flavours and origins of our food and beverages and immerse yourself in our awesome food culture.” The Yorke Peninsula will host three events during Tasting Australia including Feast on Yorkes, a fair-like event at Barley Stacks Wines that will showcase local food, wine and talent.

“There really is something for everyone at this festival, from visitors craving a high-end experience to families wanting a day out with the kids,” Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell said.

Tasting Australia events on the Yorke Peninsula are:

Coopers and Crabs Coopers Brewing Team member Simon Fahey is the special guest for this four-course dinner celebrating one of the Yorke Peninsula’s most loved culinary rituals: blue swimmer crab and cold beer.

Feast on Yorkes

Barley Stacks Wines will open the doors to its unique cellar and entertaining space for this family-friendly event. Mix and mingle while enjoying delights from land and sea.

Where: Barley Stacks Wines, South Kilkerran

Price: Free entry

Taste from the Land, Hosted by Yorkes Uncorked

Meet the locals behind the scenes, from the farmer and producer to the butcher and the chefs. Their menu will highlight produce from the geographically blessed Yorke Peninsula.
