Today (12 November 2019), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) held a joint press conference to announce cooperation between the two organizations in the areas of tourism and Thai aviation. The joint press conference was presided over by Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, and Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, at THAI Head Office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.  Marking their respective 60th anniversary of operations in 2020, campaigns will be offered to targeting groups such as Silver Age, Millennials, and Gen X to travel in order to boost inbound tourists to Thailand, which will generate more national revenue throughout next year.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said TAT is very pleased to cooperate with THAI on their upcoming 60th anniversary in 2020, as we both share the same goal to boost inbound tourist arrivals and encourage Thai people to travel locally to generate national income.

In this regard, TAT will support marketing activities such as providing in-depth information on tourism activities conducted by TAT, especially activities that attracted foreign tourists such as Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok (2 February 2020), the annual World Wai Kru Muay Thai (March 17), the Great Mekong Bike Ride, and international sport events such as LPGA MotoGP so that THAI can offer packages to tourists interested in these activities, connecting two activities of THAI and TAT to boost tourism such as connecting Amazing Thailand Grand Sale and THAI Pass Plus during Green Season to offer more benefits to both Thai and foreign tourists,  and publicizing information of THAI’s campaigns that would benefit both THAI and TAT by attracting tourists to experience impressive events in Thailand.

TAT and THAI Celebrate 60th Anniversary With New Campaign to Boost Inbound Tourists

In addition, TAT must rely on the strength and cooperation from the alliance network in tourism industry such as THAI to generate Responsible Tourism. TAT’s “Thailand Reduce Waste” which aims to reduce trash and single-use plastic in traveling was promoted by TAT and others in the industry. TAT will also invite THAI to participate in its CSR activities.

Mr. Yuthasak added that marketing goals of TAT in 2020 include keeping Thailand in the World’s top 6 of countries with highest tourism revenue by generating a 10% increase in revenue or approximately 3.71 trillion baht, consisting 2.431 trillion baht from international tourists and 1.287 Trillion baht from Thai tourists, and increasing sustainability in tourism which requires cooperation from all sectors. Having THAI as partner, TAT is confident in achieving goals in the year of its 60th anniversary.

Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, said THAI as the national flag carrier has flew around 18-20 million passengers worldwide in each year. In 2020, THAI and TAT will turn 60. Therefore, both organizations partner in campaigns which are in line with TAT policy to promote Thailand as preferred destination under the concept of “Double Thai Pride Triple Benefits”, consisting 3Ps: “Double Present for PEOPLE” offering tourists and THAI customers visiting Thailand with memorable experience, “Double PROFIT for Thailand” generating revenue for the organizations and the country to drive national economy, and “Double Impact for our PLANET” caring for Thai society and environment such as Responsible Tourism.

TAT and THAI Celebrate 60th Anniversary With New Campaign to Boost Inbound Tourists

THAI has prepared gifts for THAI passengers and tourists visiting Thailand such as Royal Orchid Holidays (ROH) tour packages covering all target groups, such as “60 Days Countdown Hot Offer” package for THAI customers and tourists to Thailand during 1 March – 1 May 2020, “Explore the Unexplored Thailand” package by THAI and THAI Smile offering new experiences to tourists, “Customize Tour Experience” package that focuses on customizing special trips for each customer, as well as ecotourism and cultural tour packages under “San Thai” campaign to preserve fading knowledge and Thai culture by experts in various fields such as art, cuisine, fragrances and Thai fabrics. In addition, THAI’s Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) offers ROP members with privileges such as using less miles for ticket redemption, earning more miles than usual from ROP partners both in Thailand and abroad, purchasing product with miles on THAI online platform, and low season promotional activities on all THAI routes which varies on travel season of each country throughout 2020.

Joint projects of TAT and THAI in 2020 such as THAI Pass Plus campaign let passengers use THAI or THAI Smile boarding pass to obtain discount or souvenirs at stores participating TAT’s Amazing Thailand Grand Sale nationwide. TAT also collaborates with THAI oversea offices in offering privileges and special price air tickets for passengers visiting Thailand.

THAI will hold “60th Still Flying” special campaign on its 60th anniversary for the Silver Age who are still eager to travel. Other packages and activities will also be launched on this occasion.

This cooperation is the great partnership between two governmental organizations which would generate more revenue into Thailand by flying foreign tourists from all over the world through THAI flights and impressing their travel experience in Thailand by TAT.
