TAT Joins Force with its partners in tourism industry and leading commercial banks to launch “Redeem Travel Fair 2013” to boost up Thailand’s tourism industry

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) joins hands with tourism partners, Thailand’s leading commercial banks, hotels, and restaurants to organize “Redeem Travel Fair 2013”, during July 5 – 7, 2013 at the Zone 1, the Atrium Hall, Central World Bangkok to promote the tourism industry of the domestic market.

C274903F5794ADD4BE63EBAA686B05371Mrs. Vilaiwan Twichasri, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business, Tourism Authority of Thailand, reveals that, “thanks to impressive success of “Redeem Travel Fair 2012” TAT is now collaborating with its partners in the banking industry and tourism business to hold “Redeem Travel Fair 2013”, during July 5 – 7, 2013 at the Zone 1, the Atrium Hall, Central World to boost Thai tourism industry, especially during the Green Season. Credit card holders joining the campaign can redeem rewards such as accommodations packages, restaurant vouchers by using reward points from loyalty cards and credit cards. The event also offers an excellent opportunity for partners and operators of banking business, hotels, and restaurants to establish a business network.”

“Redeem Travel Fair 2013” is held thanks to the fact that, currently, Thai people increasingly use credit cards, instead of cash, to purchase products and services. Credit card issuers, in response, promote the use of credit cards by offering points for holders to collect in order to be able to enjoy privileges such as redeeming for presents. However, alternatives for redemption are limited and most of them are not related to the tourism services.”

“Redeem Travel Fair 2013” optimizes this market opportunity by providing an excellent platform for business operators to offer their travel and services. Additionally, “Redeem Travel Fair 2013” helps tourists enjoy greater vacationing experience by paving the way for tourism operators to establish business ties. Credit card holders can check their accumulated points at the service centers of the issuing banks to redeem rewards which are accommodations, air tickets, car rental, restaurant vouchers, and merchandises at the Redeem Center booth. Exclusively for the fair, those who spend 3,000 baht or more through their card whose issuer joins the event are given 1,000 extra points. To claim the right, card holders simply show the receipt and the credit card at the Information Center booth. The points can be used as a discount to purchase products. Additionally, there are many extra benefits offered by the bank that issued the credit card (depending on conditions set by the bank).

Mrs. Vilaiwan further noted that “TAT is highly confident that “Redeem Travel Fair 2013” will fare very well and be favorably received by target groups or Thai consumers and our partners both the participating commercial banks and tourism business entrepreneurs. Overall, the fair is the good opportunity to boost the Thai tourist industry and generate substantial revenues for tourist operators by encouraging credit card holders to spend money on travel and services items in special prices through credit cards. “Redeem Travel Fair 2013” is scheduled to run from July 5 – 7, 2013 at Central World and expects to welcome more than 50,000 visitors throughout the period.”
