TCC Hotels Group and Marriott International will close its Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok

As part of its plan to enhance domestic tourism and expand the Marriott brand in Thailand, TCC Hotels Group will close its Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok on October 2, 2014 for a major renovation and expansion. The hotel will re-open in 2016 as the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Queen’s Park.

The property’s 1260 rooms will be redesigned with a comprehensive overhaul program that will encompass all public areas – including the lobby, lounge, spa, restaurants and bar as well as the guest rooms and suites. Great care will be taken to ensure the charm and atmosphere of the hotel are retained.

The program to renovate the largest hotel in Bangkok, one of Asia’s top tourist destinations, is in line with TCC Hotels Group’s policy of improving sustainability and environmental considerations throughout its own portfolio and the properties it manages on behalf of Marriott International. The renovation will include a number of advanced energy saving initiatives.

TCC Hotels Group, wherever possible, will give associates the opportunities to apply for positions at other hotels and properties that are owned or managed by TCC Hotels Group. There will also be the option that in addition to the legally stated severance packages, TCC have allocated additional funds for an additional payment to the associates that is in line with their service history and contribution. Closer to the re-opening date, associates will also be eligible to apply for pre-opening and opening positions at the expanded and re-branded Bangkok Marriott Hotel Queen’s Park, once the new hotel’s organizational structure is finalized.

TCC Hotels Group signed an exclusive agreement in early 2013 with Marriott International that will see the US hospitality giant operating seven TCC hotels across Thailand. These agreements will make the TCC Hotels Group the largest owner of Marriott International hotels in Asia Pacific.

Khun Wallapa Traisorat, President of TCC Hotels Group, also stated that the expansion and rebranding is a strong statement of TCC Hotels Group’s confidence and commitment to the future of Thailand’s tourism industry as it prepares to embrace the advent of the ASEAN Economic Community.

Mr. Simon Cooper, President & Managing Director Asia-Pacific for Marriott International, stated that they are confident the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Queen’s Park will be a magnificent addition to the portfolio and a credit to the brand, to TCC Hotels Group and to Thailand on its re-launch in early 2016.
