Youth development and volunteerism are fundamental elements of corporate social responsibility at Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited (Nasdaq: MLCO). In collaboration with the Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for the Elderly, the company has introduced and initiated a series of events aimed at teaching children important life values through volunteerism.

Regular sessions with experts from the NGO teach children how to communicate with the elderly, and integrates several elements of the Company’s CSR strategy; including volunteerism, youth and education to create meaningful experiences for both volunteers and beneficiaries. The project’s ultimate goal is for children to learn, via volunteering, important life values through offering companionship to senior citizens, putting their newly-learnt knowledge into practice.

Speaking about the first session from this series titled Show Your Kind Heart by Holding Hands, Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, expressed: “We are ever-committed to giving back to the community, including developing youth and helping those in need. Our latest initiative with Pou Tai combines the two objectives by providing opportunities for children to learn, through volunteerism, the virtues of respect for the elderly, to foster empathy, develop social skills and sense of responsibility, and a chance to make a positive difference to the lives of others. We will continue to develop this series with several more events planned for the upcoming months.”

Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for the Elderly provides for approximately 320 senior citizens over the age of 60; including daycare, care homes and accommodation for those in good health condition. The center’s mission is to provide a comfortable environment for the elderly in which they feel well-respected, to facilitate a balanced state of body and mind.
