Team Work Makes The Dream Work

July 17, 2017 Resort News No Comments Email Email

One of the most vital elements for the success of any business is its staff. Recognising and appreciating this important resource is essential for the growth and development of every workplace, something Richard Branson already had pegged when he said, ‘There’s no unique formula – take care of your staff and they’ll take care of your business.’ Appreciation is a fundamental human need and staff recognition is crucial for the work environment to succeed.

Finns Bali (formerly Semara Resorts Group) certainly recognises the importance of their number one resource, recently holding an appreciation evening to acknowledge those with five years or more service to the company. These longstanding employees were treated to dinner at Bistro C Smoke House, presented with a certificate of service and a commemorative gold pin.

Staff numbers have certainly grown since the company’s inception as a travel service in 2009, and as Finns Bali has expanded over the past eight years its workforce now totals around 550 employees across all outlets; 33 of whom have been with the company for over five years! Longest standing employee, Ketut Bawa, began tenure with the company (then known as the Semara Group) over eight years ago and he continues to hone his skills as First Chef in Finns Beach Club’s state of the art kitchen today! Chances are if you have ever walked into Finns Recreation Club you’re sure to have encountered the smiling face of Ayu, Finns second longest serving employee and a welcoming first impression for members visitors and guests to the club.

Wayan Asrama said “I believe it is our communication and understanding of each other that makes us a strong team which has achieved great success in such a short time. That’s why I work at Finns Bali and Finns Bali has become part of my life.”

Rai said “I have learnt a lot about how to be a good manager from both local people and expatriate. It’s a great workplace for career development.”

Nyoman Kartika said “I am very proud working to work at Finns Recreation Club, over the past 7 years. I have had many new experiences and challenges to improve my knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry. All colleagues respect each other and show enthusiasm to serve our customers.”

Along with an attractive remuneration package, reward for efforts and hard work are an important way to show your workers that they are invaluable members of the team and with Finns Bali’s long list of employee benefits, it’s no wonder a large percentage of their staff stay for years

Training and development is also key to a company’s prosperity and evolution and Finns offers continual educational opportunities encouraging employees to develop new skills that not only enhance their workplace performance but also benefit their home life and family. Education and the subsequent adoption of these up to the minute practices in the workplace often means these new skills are filtering down to younger generations in the family unit encouraging new, efficient and more environmentally friendly approaches to day to day life.

Courses in First Aid, tsunami and earthquake action and awareness drills as well as on the job training in F&B,  information technology, entertainment systems and even environmental sustainability procedures and practices means staff at Finns are continuously reinforcing and expanding their education and skills base and empowering them to seek promotion within the company. Employees are actively encouraged to apply for higher positions, moving into the departments where they truly aspire to be and furthering their future career options.

Across numerous departments, trainees are offered work experience and an opportunity to showcase their skills and enthusiasm, often with a view to a more permanent position. Keen, skilled and eager professionals are always encouraged to apply and Finns offer a range of career opportunities across all sectors including corporate, sales, management, hospitality, sports and recreation, engineering, childcare, spa therapy and more.

The belief that success is attributed to all parts of a well oiled machine working together is an ideology that filters down from management through to every department at Finns. Each cog is crucial no matter how small and everyone is vital for the machine to function effectively, somewhat indicative of the Finns Bali mission statement – One vision, One team, One goal.
