THAI has deferred the launch of planned Airbus A350 flights to Melbourne, which had been due to begin this Friday, 16 September 2016.
The Bangkok Post quoted THAI president Charamporn Jotikasthira blaming the delay on “additional inspections [of the aircraft] and requirements from Australian authorities”.
In the meantime, THAI plans to use its most technologically advanced plane on domestic routes from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Phuket.
THAI received the brand-new Airbus A350 XWB a the start of this month, when the airline held a touchdown ceremony at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to welcome the new plane and give it its royally bestowed name “Wichian Buri”. See: THAI Holds Touchdown Ceremony to Welcome its First Airbus A350 XWB
THAI ordered 12 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft, with four firm orders and eight aircraft leases. It describes the A350 XWB as “currently the most technologically advanced, modern, and efficient aircraft that meets customers’ expectations”.
