THAI Strengthens Commitment to Thailand as Asia’s Leading MICE Destination

Thai Airways International (THAI) continues its commitment to Thailand’s lucrative and high-profile Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibition (MICE) business event sector with aggressive fleet upgrades and ongoing route expansion through the strength of its Star Alliance partners.

The national carrier made this pledge during the 25th IT&CMA and 20th CTW Asia-Pacific conferences, marking the 14th year that both of Asia’s leading MICE contracting events have been held in Thailand.

According to THAI Vice President, e-Commerce and Ancillary Marketing Department Mrs. Pariya Chulkaratana, supporting international conferences and exhibitions has always been one of THAI’s top priorities as it continues its commitment to support the travel industry which remains Thailand’s leading foreign exchange earner.

“Being a long-standing partner of this conference, THAI realises that IT&CMA brings people and experts from around the world to a single place to share ideas and experiences. At the same time, it reinforces both professional and personal relationships among industry colleagues, while establishing deals and the groundwork for future business events that operate on longer lead times,” Mrs. Pariya added.

To service this important sector and get ready for future growth, Thailand’s national carrier has worked on improving its efficiency in many customer service areas including face-to-face customer interaction or through its new internet platform that offers easier online booking capabilities, additional self-service check-in facilities or award-winning onboard meal service.

THAI has also redesigned and retrofitted cabins with new passenger seats and entertainment system for improved inflight connectivity, as well as expanding its network through Star Alliance partners with the intention of adding new destinations in the very near future.

On 16 November THAI will launch its Bangkok-Vienna service, returning there after 24 years.  As Vienna is central to accessing key commercial centres around Central Europe, it is another gateway for delegates to reach Thailand for MICE events.  It will operate Boeing 777-300ER on the route with the total lift capacity of 348 seats of which 42 are in Royal Silk Class.

THAI also continues to upgrade its fleet with the objective to make it the most modern in Asia. For this year 2017, THAI has taken delivery of five aircraft including three A350-900 and two Boeing 787-9.

Future promotions are key to THAI continuing to support all sectors of Thailand’s tourism sector. It is ready to support the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) during its upcoming Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018.
