egtmedia59Hospitality Investment World Thailand – known to be Thailand’s leading hotel conference kicked off today at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Center bringing delegates from all over for a two day conference on Thailand’s growing hospitality industry.

The event set pace with a very motivating introduction by David Keen, CEO of QUO, stating that, “Thailand always manages to find a way”.  He strongly believes in the tourism of Thailand but quotes that it needs the right change to take place.

Thailand always comes across some situation especially during the high season. When it’s time to welcome the maximum tourism, there’s always been a drawback. Nevertheless, the Kingdom has welcomed 26 million visitors in 2013 and the numbers are expected to rise in 2014 despite of any chaos the country goes through.CONSULTANTS TRAVEL MKTG HOT PINK 250 X 250

Dr. Suwat Sidthilaw, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Sports says the number of tourists visiting Thailand will continue to grow in the coming years and the political problems nor will the natural disasters  come in the way. And that is the reason why the government is implementing on its masterplan, “Thailand’s National Tourism Development Masterplan 2012 – 2016”. There will be improvements/changes in the tourism in aspects such as infrastructure and immigration at the airport.

Pichai Chuensuksawadi, Editor-in-Chief, Post Publishing also still believes in this country. He emphasizes that the right niche market needs to be boosted. He questions, “What can we do to get high end niche markets to spend more?” He then says that we need to target the private sector, we need to cater to the needs of tourists and give them an experience to remember. Thailand is filled with rich culture – we need to promote it!

He then continues, there’s the medical tourism that is rising, the school tourism and through the TAT, visitors from countries like China, India and Russia are rising. He also points out that the Indian community spends reasonably high on weddings and honeymoon – we need to target it.  He concludes that the private sector together with partnerships with the government need to help bring in people to the country who have the ability to spend, and conducting conferences and meetings could be a top priority.
