A range of unique local products and services from the Northern Region of Thailand will be showcased for prospective business-to-business discussions and agreements at the 16th Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion (TTM+), which will take place for the second time in Chiang Mai at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre (CMECC) from 14-16 June, 2017.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, “Northern Thailand offers many high-quality products from exquisite Lanna-inspired arts and crafts to holistic wellness essentials and tasty food products. With some of the most important players in the tourism industry representing hotels, resorts and spas gathering at the TTM+ 2017, the event is the perfect opportunity for buyers and sellers to discuss good deals and enhance the image of Thai made tourism products.”

TTM+ 2017 has already registered (closure date 23 March) 480 buyers from 64 countries and 354 sellers from Thailand and the GMS countries. Both buyers and sellers at the TTM+ 2017 represent a wide variety of companies and sectors operating in the travel industry, and many will be there to discuss business deals for the next contractual period.

On top of this, they will have the chance to learn about the amazing range of local tourism products unique to Thailand’s North, which will be showcased in seven categories:

Lanna Fabric includes fabrics, cloth and clothing essentials in hotels and spas; such as, bedding, pillowcases and towels as well as uniforms for staff, rugs, curtains and more.

Lanna Style comprises goods to use to bring a touch of Northern culture to decoration. These include screens, carved furniture and household utensils; many given a modern Lanna twist.

Lanna Kitchenware, which is highly sought after by restaurants and hotels as well as homeowners. Some of the exquisitely decorated products being sold include table and silverware and a wide range of ceramic products.

Lanna Herbs & Snacks include locally-sourced and farmed products; such as, spices, dried fruits, tea and coffee, and herbs which are grown in the hills of the North.

Lanna Scent features spa products including the popular herbal compresses used in spas across Thailand, skin treatments, skin oils and cosmetic products used in the beauty industry.

OTOP Lanna are products made by communities across the North, which are unique to the area. This includes handicrafts made by local tribal groups, silverware, carved wood artwork from the village of Ban Tawai and fine silverware from Chiang Mai’s famous silvermaking centre of Wua Lai.

SACICT (Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand) will showcase innovative handicrafts and products made of local wisdom and craftsmanship. Goods include Tima wickerwork made with palm leaves in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Vassana cakes from Chiang Mai and Trimode fabrics from Bangkok.
