Thailand’s Only International Balloon Festival Is Set To Rise High

egtmedia59On the 7th and 8th December, don’t be surprised if you’ll be seeing a series of balloons flying high in the skies of Chiang Mai, Thailand. This amazing event is the 7th International Balloon Festival in Thailand and it is created and managed by the Earth Wind and Fire Co., Ltd. with the Tourism Authority of Thailand being its main sponsor this year.

This much-awaited annual function will be held at the popular Chiang Mai Gymkhana Golf Club and it is expecting to welcome over 50,000 visitors this year.  This international annual function started off 7 years ago aiming to give both local and international tourists an adventure to look forward to in the famous cultural land of Chiang Mai. The festival has provided tourists with a life-time opportunity in Thailand to explore very closely the experience of riding in hot-air balloons and admiring nature from high above.HotelStylish250x250

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for international visitors to see spectacular panoramic views from a hot-air balloon and experience a lively concert in the heart of Chiang Mai, said Yut Wanichanond, Advisor, Earth Wind and Fire’s Co. Ltd.

The two-day event will be filled with lots of adventure and fun entertainment such as concerts by famous artists, kite flying and game stations. Not just that, visitors can also experience riding in the balloons and if you’re lucky you might just win a free ride during the lucky draw session. And to top up the entertainment, the giant yellow duck will also be making an exclusive appearance, so don’t miss out on your lucky chance to get a photo taken with him!

Mrs. Wilaiwan Tawichsri, Deputy Director of Tourism Product of Tourism Authority of Thailand said that, “We started off with this event to bring some adventure and entertainment in to the tourism both locally and at the international level. And with such kind of events, that are both beautiful and different, it brings good entertainment to tourists.”

The International Balloon Festival has professional pilots coming from all over the globe. This year, there will be pilots from countries like Spain, Russia, Croatia, England, Malaysia, Germany, Belgium and Thailand.

The fee to the festival are THB 200 for adults and THB 50 for children ages 7 – 12, children under 7 years or less than 120 cm are allowed in free. Those planning to visit the festival can also book their stay with any of the sponsor hotels including the Dusit and Centara chain and get special packages to enjoy the festival to most.

A new debut to this year’s 2-day festival is the “Logo Grab” application which is the latest technology created in Switzerland. Smartphone users can download this app free and then scan on any brand’s logo to retrieve any ongoing promotions or benefits. Visitors going to the festival can get easy access to all the details, redeem promotional discounts and receive free gifts from many of the booths at the event through this new app.
