Thais pay the Highest Price for Swiss Taste

Hotels in Switzerland are the costliest for Thai travelers according to a new survey by Hotels.com.

Thai travelers paid an average of 6,572 THB per night at Swiss hotels,according to the latest Hotels.com™ Hotel Price Index™ (HPI™). Cambodia ranks at the bottom of the chart with 1,793 THB a night.

The Hotels.com™ Hotel Price Index™ (HPI™) shows that travellers from Thailand paid more in 2013 than the previous year for their hotel rooms in over half of the countries included in the HPI.  Of the 27 countries included in the report, travellers from Thailand paid more in 16 of them.

Switzerland was the country in the HPI where travellers from Thailand paid the most for their hotel accommodation as a three per cent boost took its rate to 6,572 THB, with Italy next at 6,504 THB after a six per cent rise and the United Arab Emirates at 6,494 THB with a one per cent decrease.

India recorded the highest increase with 12 per cent, moving its average night up to 3,620 THB and there were further increases in other parts of the world. The Czech Republic increased 11 per cent to 4,174 THB and two neighbours had the same 10 per cent rise as Canada climbed to 5,883 THB and the USA to 5,382 THB.

At the other end of the scale, the average rate of hotels in Thailand was down 1 per cent to 2,713 THB and there were other fallers elsewhere in Asia. Cambodia fell 12 per cent to 1,793 THB, becoming the destination in the HPI where hotel guests from Thailand paid the least. South Korea slid 9 per cent to 4,244 THB and a 6 per cent decrease took Hong Kong to 6,057 THB and Taiwan to 3,653 THB. Japan itself dropped 5 per cent to 4,262 THB and the same percentage fall took the Philippines to 3,158 THB.

By referencing the report data, travellers would know which destinations offer the best value and with most price decrease. For example, countries such as Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan shown decreased hotel rate which is great news for Thai travellers.”
