Thanyapura Phuket (link to website http://www.thanyapura.com/ ) has partnered with Labdoo, the fast-growing global charity project which sees old laptops donated, cleaned and restored for children from underprivileged backgrounds, and will lead an operation as Labdoo’s Thailand Hub partner in the Kingdom.

Thanyapura Phuket’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, Philipp Graf von Hardenberg, is seeking new partners as Labdoo Hubs in Central, Northeast and Northern regions of Thailand

The project is led by Thanyapura Phuket’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, Philipp Graf von Hardenberg, well known in Thailand for his pioneering educational work with Yaowawit School (link to website http://yaowawit.com/ ) in Phang Nga province, a government-approved, public welfare boarding school opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn in 2006 after the Asian tsunami.

Mr Graf von Hardenberg worked closely with Labdoo Hamburg Hub in his native Germany and personally hand carried 14 computers in various trips from Germany to Thailand’s Yaowawit School. The innovative distribution process is called “dootripping”, a new concept of travel to benefit communities by bringing reconditioned laptop computers to schools, ready for use.

“With so many old computers in Thailand we thought why not bring the concept here and put all these old computers to good use in the education of young Thai people, giving them the best chance to be the best they can be, especially in schools that have challenges related to funding,” said Mr Graf von Hardenberg.

“This perfectly matches the core philosophy of Thanyapura and students at our Phuket International Academy (PIA) in conjunction with our IT department will be actively involved in gathering and preparing these computers to be taken to schools in Phuket and Phang Nga and eventually nationwide as we develop a network of partners in Bangkok, the north and the north-east.”

Labdoo founder and team member Jordi Ros-Giralt said Labdoo was a non-profit grassroots collaborative project and those involved gave their time and effort out of goodwill.
