To commemorate Lan Kwai Fong Hotel’s momentous 10th Anniversary milestone, and to further establish their foothold as being one of Hong Kong’s coolest and trendiest boutique hotels, the property invited the talented street muralist Phillippe Baudelocque to infuse his avant-garde sense of artistry on several prominent areas of the hotel. Hailing from France, Philippe is famous for his large scale street paintings that fuse animal drawings with starry and geometric patterns, resulting in masterpieces that resemble constellations straight out of the night sky and cosmic map.

Celebrating the charm of Hong Kong and bridging the city’s vibrancy and the calm, Lan Kwai Fong Hotel @ Kau U Fong is a true representation of the city’s diverse culture and lively art scene. The hotel also provides an eclectic twist to traditional Chinese décor. From iconic red Chinese lanterns that illuminates certain corners of the hotel to the intricate jade turtles that hold telephone cables in hotel rooms, the hotel possesses a distinctive style like no other – juxtaposing contemporary furnishings with Asian design elements that includes the usage of silk, the most intricate of porcelain pieces and elaborate ornaments native to Asia. The hotel is also one of the go-to boutique hotels in Hong Kong for both local and international guests in recent years, and provides a sanctuary for rest and repose amidst this oriental concrete jungle.

“The Sheung Wan district was not exactly “hip” when the hotel first opened here 10 years ago – with butchers, carpenters and wet markets running amok,” says Rebecca Kwan, General Manager of Lan Kwai Fong Hotel @ Kau U Fong. “Fast forward a decade and the district is now a haven for hipsters with the stalls now replaced by art galleries, fashion stores like Goods of Desire and cafés fit for the hippest of hipsters. Not to mention the up and coming PMQ (formerly known as the Police Married Quarters) which recently witnessed a complete facelift and is now revitalised as a creative hub for local design talents.”

“Hitting the decade old milestone is a testament to Lan Kwai Fong Hotel’s success and longevity in the industry, and its popularity amongst both the local and international market,” says Roland Jegge, Worldhotels Executive Vice President Asia Pacific. “Worldhotels is proud to be a part of their legacy and cannot wait to witness the hotel’s upcoming plans for the next 10 years.”

Lan Kwai Fong Hotel @ Kau U Fong is an award winning boutique hotel and its accolades include: TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence in 2016, World Travel Awards Asia’s Leading Boutique Hotel in 2009 and Hong Kong’s Leading Boutique Hotel in 2013, 2012 and 2008 plus China Hotel Starlight Award’s Best Boutique Hotel of China in 2008.
