This August the swathe of white sand called Sanur Beach in South Bali will roll out its 10th Sanur Village Festival to take place from 26 – 30 August 2015 at the Maisonette Area of the Inna Grand Bali Beach.
Like in previous years, Sanur Village Festival promises lots of fun, delicious food and plenty of excitement and gaiety for everyone, where this year the emphasis will be on galvanizing community involvement to care more for the Environment and the continuation of local arts and culture. The Environment program includes cleaning of the beaches from unsightly flotsam and trash, the sending off of baby turtles to sea, and planting of new coral reefs off the coast, all of which will involve primary and secondary school students, members of the travel industry and NGOs.
In Sports, both Tourists and locals will look forward to the SanurRun which will be held on 23 August, and is divided into 3 categories: 10K which is open to public (expats, local and international visitors), 5K, and Kids’ Dash along a 400 meters track for kids between 5-6 years old and 1K for those between 7-9 years old. Participants will start running from the Mertasari beach at 6.0 am and breathe in the fresh morning air passing villages that are just waking up for the morning activities. Other activities include a Dialogue on Art and Culture. There will be exhibitions galore, which include the Sanur Kreatif Expo, displaying a wide choice of handicrafts, The event is expected to become a get together for artisans as well as meet business contacts. There will also be the Agrotourism Expo, a Bazaar on decorative plants, photo exhibitions alongside musical and cultural performances and a cultural parade,
Involving everyone, there are body paintings galore, art for all, on-the-spot painting and photo sessions. The Photo exhibition will be at Griya Santrian, commencing one week before the event, closing one week after the festival.
Other Fun and Sports activities include an International Kite Festival, fun games, a parade of traditional jukung boats, fishing competitions, Village Cycling Tour, surfing competition and yoga. Meanwhile the Sanur Open Golf Tournament will be held two days from 29 – 30 August at the Bali Beach Course. And the Balinale will show short films every afternoon along the duration of the Festival at the Trans Village.
