Although all eyes are now turned towards Seychelles’ fifth anniversary of the Carnival International de Victoria, interests are steaming up from islands of the Indian Ocean to participate in the 30th anniversary of Festival kreol planned 24th 31st October. The Festival Kreol is the only gathering of the Creole People of the World and the festival coincides annually with the International Creole Day as decreed by the United Nations. The mayor of Reunion town of La Possession, Vanessa Miranville has confirmed the participation in the festival of around 70 pupils aged 10-12 from the school of Raymond Verges. The pupils who are expected in Seychelles 22nd – 27th October will stage a musical concert. The adventure of Tidriss, one and half an hour musical concert is a recital of fables of ‘’ La Fontaine’’.
Simone Casas responsible for cultural education at La Possession said the musical concert is an important education tool for pupils to develop their creativity through learning. She said through the staging of the musical concert, pupils learn to read French and Creole and live together. The project was presented to Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture by Vanessa Miranville mayor of La Procession during the Minister’s official mission in Reunion. Minister St.Ange gave a thumbs up for this project and re-assured the town of Possession of his Ministry’s commitment to ensure it is materialised. In the presence of Pascal Viroleau CEO of the Vanilla islands, Minister St.Ange gave his blessing for the pupils during their stay in Seychelles to do exchanges with pupils of Mahe and Praslin. The adventure of Tidriss will be staged in Reunion 25th June, before touring Seychelles.
