For sailing enthusiasts, there are plenty of oceans to explore and some of the world’s most beautiful places along the way. Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Why not take to the seas and head for the absolutely stunning Bay of Islands in New Zealand. This sub-tropical cluster of 144 islands sits just north of Auckland and is a sailor’s paradise. Take your time to explore the numerous islands, where you can enjoy walking trails, stunning beaches and clear blue waters that range from bright turquoise through to deep blue. Zanzibar, Tanzania

Off the coast of East Africa, lies the picturesque archipelago of Zanzibar, which is an ancient spice trading point for sailors and travellers from years gone by. It’s now a top sailing destination with it’s winning combination of tropical beaches, with sparkling turquoise waters. You can take your time to explore this magical and historical place. Head into the old Stone Town where the ancient kingdoms of Persia, Oman and India meet. Sail around the archipelago and drop anchor in the bays where you can enjoy breath-taking beaches that are the ideal place to relax, snorkel and bask in the wonders Zanzibar has to offer.

Whitsunday Islands, Australia

The Whitsunday Islands, just off the Queensland Coast, really do need to be seen to be believed. The endless beauty of the azure seas, cloudless skies and idyllic islands will take your breath away and what better way to see them than sailing around them. Explore the islands at a leisurely pace and you’ll find colourful coral reefs brimming with marine life, such as sea turtles and tropical fish. You can see it all by simply diving off your boat into the clear blue seas whenever it takes your fancy.

Tahiti & French Polynesia

These exotic islands are picture perfect – a paradise in the Pacific Ocean. This vast set of 118 islands sits approximately halfway between Australia and California and is scattered over an impressive 2000sq km, which means there is plenty to explore on your boat to make the trip worthwhile. These islands are a collection of lush, green slopes, white sands and blue lagoons that will take your breath away. To see it at its best and for clear sailing, it’s best to be avoided during the raining season March – November.

British Virgin Islands

A trip to the British Virgin Islands has so much to offer and is a mariner’s dreamland. Situated in the North Caribbean there is a bountiful of 40 islands to explore that are perfectly geared for anchoring your boat and delving right in. It’s an easy place to sail with steady trade winds and tame currents, so whatever your ability you can have fun. This tropical haven is a place to enjoy picture-perfect beaches, clear turquoise sea and see a plethora of marine life right up close.
