Spread the love

From the moment I saw the flat-topped acacia tree valley looking out over the plains, I could see the design and hear her name “Nyika” whisper in the wind, which means “Large Plains or Great Plains.”
What I saw was a series of light canvas tents set up on tall stilts nestled into the underneath of these very typical thorn trees, each overlooking the beautiful plains. Each time we went there as we were planning this camp, we accidentally flushed out lions or leopards and, with a silent apology for the disturbancefound one of the most exciting places in Africa.”

The brand new Mara Nyika Camp is located in the Naboisho Conservancy and is perfectly positioned to offer guests an amazing safari experience.

The camp will ring true with the romance of East Africa, from a time when light canvas flapped in the breeze, wildebeest and zebras crisscrossed the plans and at twilight, lions roared across the Nyika.

Mara Nyika Camp will offer guests the opportunity to spend time in their suites tucked under a canopy of trees with suspended walkways that link the tents to the main area giving a feel of a tree-house under canvas. The camp’s ethic and inspiration is one of exploration and adventure – a sense of impermanence in this ever-changing world.

Privacy in this camp is the key to understanding it. Privacy to live, think, explore, be romantic and be pampered – all the while with one of the most spectacular backdrops Africa can provide.

Mara Nyika is unique in that it allows guests to explore the private and exclusive 50,000-acre Naboisho Conservancy in which it is located and further afield with safari drives into the Maasai Mara Reserve. Each guest’s stay supports over 500 Maasai families with a sustainable livelihood through the payment of conservation fees and ensuring the conservation of the wildlife in this vital corridor of the Maasai Mara ecosystem.

Ideally, guests should spend a few days in Mara Nyika combined with a stay at either our Mara Expedition or Mara Plains Camp to get exposure to three unrivalled wildlife areas, namely the private Olare Motorogi and Naboisho Conservancies as well as the Maasai Mara Reserve.

Mara Nyika opens 1 August 2019. Should you need any assistance in promoting this camp to your clients or have any questions with regards to this exciting addition to our portfolio, please let us know.
