The CLIAs a Sell Out Amid Record Award Submissions

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has revealed that the 17th Cruise Industry Awards dinner has sold out in the wake of a record number of award nominations.

CLIA Australasia & Asia Managing Director Joel Katz said the association had been inundated with submissions from CLIA accredited agents and agencies for the categories open to nomination, which include Agent Promotion of the Year Australia / New Zealand, Network Promotion of the Year (Australasia) and Plan a Cruise Month Agency Award (Australasia).

For the first time, nearly half of the nominations were submitted from New Zealand.

“We know 2017 was a big year for cruise and are thrilled to see this reflected in the overwhelming number of award submissions we’ve received, especially from New Zealand, which has batted well above its weight with almost half of the nominations,” Mr Katz said.

“Our expert panel will begin judging all the award categories this week and we’re looking forward to revealing the finalists before the end of the month.”

Known as ‘the CLIAs’, the Cruise Industry Awards dinner is the local cruise industry’s ‘night of nights’, recognising and rewarding the outstanding achievements of member agents who have had a stellar year of cruise.

A total of 20 awards will be presented on the night including Cruise Agency of the Year, Online Agency of the Year, Homebased/Mobile Agent of the Year (Broker in NZ), Cruise Consultant of the Year, the Rising Star award and the latest entrant to the CLIA Hall of Fame, as nominated by CLIA members.

The sold out event will be held on Saturday February 24, 2018, at the Star Event Centre Sydney and will be hosted by Sunrise newsreader Natalie Barr.

Major sponsors of the 17th Cruise Industry Awards Dinner are Dubai Tourism, Emirates, World’s Leading Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean.
