Record crowds of more than 500,000 are expected to flock to Kiblat Walk to celebrate the New Year as part of LAMPU, the fourth annual Light and Motion Putrajaya Festival, taking place in the Malaysian capital from 30 December – 1 January.
Turning the city of Putrajaya into a living, breathing art canvas, local and international artists will once again collaborate to create ever-changing, vibrant light projections that will dominate some of the city’s most iconic landscapes and buildings.
Expect to be caught up in a stunning exhibition of light and activity; follow a floating ocean of moving LED waves into the heart of the city; travel through the streets on a bespoke ‘light bike’; or take a moment to absorb astonishing sky high art creations that transform buildings before your eyes. One thing is certain – LAMPU will dazzle your senses and inspire your soul.
Now in its fourth year, the Festival will feature world-class spectacular displays of lights, audio and motion including the perennially popular LAMPU Skywave, Glowing Street, Magical Street, LAMPU Ice Structures, Wayang Kulit, and daring Fire-Eaters just to name a few.
The façade of Putrajaya’s Grand Palace of Justice is also expected to form a giant canvas for a breathtaking display combining Malaysia’s exciting street culture with traditional art motifs.
With input and participation from some of the world’s most innovative and cutting edge light designers, LAMPU’s is well down the path of becoming the world’s preeminent sound and light event. Malaysia also hopes the Festival will provide an effective springboard for establishing Putrajaya as South East Asia’s leading lighting and technology hub in the near future.
Taking place in Putrajaya from 30 December 2016 to 1 January 2017, LAMPU is a spectacular free, all-ages celebration suitable for the whole family. For more information on LAMPU please visit www.putrajayacity.com.
