The Finishing Touch To The Meliá Tour Of Asia: A Strategic Agreement With TCC Land Asset World, Thailand’s Leading Business Group, To Open Three Hotels Over The Next Three Years
The Chairman and the CEO of Melia Hotels International today ended a productive tour of Asia with the announcement of an agreement with one of the largest business conglomerates in Thailand, TCC Land Asset World, a member of the TCC Group, to open its first hotels in Thailand and provide a further boost to growth in Asia.
Since opening the Melia Hanoi Hotel in Vietnam, Melia and TCC Land Asset World have spent many years building a strong relationship based on trust and mutual growth, which has now led to a strategic agreement for future developments. In the first three years of the agreement, the two companies will develop three hotels: a Sol Beach House in the luxury resort of Koh Samui, the third largest island in Thailand and destination for more than 1.5 million tourists every year thanks to its natural beauty, beaches and turquoise waters; an avant-garde luxury lifestyle hotel under theME by Meliá brand in Bangkok; and a luxury all-inclusive Paradisus resort in one of the top holiday destinations in Thailand, yet to be announced.
The agreement also foresees future growth both in Thailand (especially destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui or Pattaya) and other countries thanks to the synergies and service and hospitality philosophy and culture that both companies share. Gabriel Escarrer, Vice Chairman and CEO of Meliá stated during the signature of the agreement that “we have always opted for a growth strategy accompanied by major local partners, and entering a market with extraordinary potential such as Thailand together with TCC Land Asset World meets all of our expectations.” “In addition – he added – we have a very similar business philosophy, and our brands and service culture are perfectly adapted to the demanding standards of the famous Thai hospitality, meaning that our partnership begins with the most auspicious omens”.
Meliá Hotels International has a major focus on growth in Asia Pacific, and the addition of its first hotels in Thailand, a top destination for markets such as Germany, Russia and Eastern Europe, is a major step forward in extending the presence of resort brands such as Paradisus and Sol Beach House (the Group’s most recent resort hotel concept) in Southeast Asia. The future Sol Beach House Koh Samui will emerge from the transformation of the existing Imperial Boat House Koh Samui Hotel, with the two companies announcing that it will be open within two years and become an exquisite and relaxed resort for adults only, highlighting among its 209 rooms the 33 boat suites or rice barges converted into 91m₂ luxury accommodations.
For Mr Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi of TCC Group, “This agreement will deepen and strengthen a long-term relationship with Meliá Hotels International based on mutual respect and trust, and a shared concept of hospitality as a means of achieving growth and prosperity for our communities. We are convinced that the Meliá commitment to quality and innovation through its Paradisus, Sol Beach House and ME by Meliá hotel brands will help place the exceptional range of hotels in Thailand in the avant-garde of the industry, adapting to new segments of urban and resort hotel guests”.
