The first story in the life of The Palm House

October 22, 2014 Meeting Venues No Comments Email Email

It was a record breaking day in October when a Tasmanian couple held their wedding reception at the new function venue, The Palm House in Airlie Beach Queensland.

It was the first reception for the new venue, the first time the couple had been to the Whitsundays and the first wedding for the mother of three, Shananne Groves.

The couple from Launceston, Tasmania knew they wanted a special beach wedding somewhere in Australia so they researched all options on the internet. Shananne says, “Mark and I thought why not combine a holiday and a wedding and go somewhere different? I looked up and down the Queensland coast and decided the Whitsundays was somewhere we had never been before, it looked beautiful and it suited our needs.” Not only did she source the location for her wedding on the internet but she also found her wedding gown the same way.

Shananne was also searching for Airlie Beach accommodation which would suit all their family and friends who were coming to the wedding from around Australia. BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort answered all their needs including the brand new function venue right on site. Shananne says, “we had 41 family and friends and lots of kids so we wanted a location that was family friendly. Many of our guests arrived a week before the event and had a wonderful holiday in the Whitsundays in the lead-up to our wedding.”

The wedding ceremony took place on Boathaven Beach at 3.30pm and then back to The Palm House for cocktails and the reception party. The Palm House caters for wedding receptions from just 10 to 110 people and the venue can be configured for other events and conferences with 170 sit-down or 250 cocktail style. The new Pavilion with its tropical garden setting can be used for ceremonies or pre-dinner drinks.

Shananne says, “the beach wedding was exactly as I imagined with the sparkling aqua waters as a backdrop and I love that all our photos will look so tropical and different to where we live. We’ve had a fantastic time and helped create a special holiday and lifetime memories for all our family and friends as well. I couldn’t be happier.”

With two commercial airports, easy road access from Townsville to Rockhampton and further west, Airlie Beach is in an ideal central location for many people to meet. It is also one of the most popular destinations in Australia for a wedding. Both The Palm House and BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort manage to capture the essence of the relaxed, Australian lifestyle while impressing with quality staff and services, contemporary cabins, spotless public areas, lush tropical gardens and extensive facilities. BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort has accommodation capacity for over 700 guests and offers easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsunday islands, a vast array of tours, fishing, boating and many other water based activities.
