The Golden Hour From The Maison Premiere Team Opens Today

Joshua Boissy and Krystof Zizka, the team behind the James Beard Award-winning Brooklyn restaurant Maison Premiere and Greenpoint’s Sauvage, today open The Golden Hour, an outdoor oasis serving coastal fare and frozen cocktails in the front garden of The High Line Hotel  located at 180 Tenth Avenue. 

Bar director Will Elliott has created inventive specialty cocktails such as El Draque, a Brazilian predecessor to the mojito with cachaça, lime and yerba buena, and the Pimm’s Golden Cup with London gin, ginger and borage served in a golden chalice. Frozen cocktails include the Blue Kapalua, a play on the Blue Hawaii tiki classic made with a blend of rums, fresh pineapple and curaçao, and Elliott’s take on the Frozen Negroni with Spanish vermouth from Jerez punctuated by seasonal citrus.

Inspired by coastal dining, the menu includes a rotating list of more than a dozen oysters. Appetizers range from Snapper Ceviche with aji panca, orange and radish to Grilled Shrimp with charred avocado and summer tomatoes. Sandwich highlights include the Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with remoulade and little gem lettuce and a Classic Lobster Roll with dill. Entrees feature more substantial summer fare: Fish and Chips with malt vinegar, Razor Clam Frittes with saffron and Black Bass with clams, asparagus and seaweed butter.

Ensconced in the front garden of the historic 1895 Collegiate Gothic jewel The High Line Hotel, The Golden Hour offers a serene respite from the bustling city abundant with lush tropical plants. Boissy and Zizka accounted for every decor detail, commissioning custom brass tabletops in Brooklyn, designing navy and red-striped French Riviera-style server uniforms, creating a watercolor palette for the menus and selecting black and white chevron latticed chairs.

The Golden Hour is open starting today, Thursday May 31, Sunday through Thursdayfrom 2 pm to 10 pm and Friday and Saturday from 2 pm to 11 pm. Brunch hours will be added within the next few weeks.
