The H.E.A.T. is on at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila

Internationally trained chefs take center stage at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s H.E.A.T. all-day dining restaurant. H.E.A.T., which stands for Healthy Eating, Amazing Tastes, offers over 10 open theater kitchens that features Asian and continental specialties, freshly prepared or cooked à la minute. 
Led by the hotel’s Executive Chef Warren Brown, among H.E.A.T.’s open theater kitchen stations are Cheese, Bread and Cold Cuts; Salad Bar; Sushi and Sashimi Showcase; Seafood Showcase; Indian, Noodles, Filipino, Western, Carving, Pizza and Pasta; Asian Wok and Barbeque; Ice Cream; and Dessert Bar.

Cheese, bread and cold cuts: Features a well-edited selection of mild to strong cheeses, as well as locally grown organic white cheese from the southern Philippines. Breads are all handmade in the pastry kitchen and include diet-specific options such as gluten-free loaves. Across from it is an enoteca station, featuring red and white wines on rotation.

Salad bar: Guests can mix and match organic farm-fresh greens, seasonal vegetables, legumes and root crops.

Sushi and sashimi showcase: Diners are treated to fresh slices of salmon, tuna sashimi or other seafood and other favorite Japanese rice rolls.

Seafood showcase: Seasonal shellfish, lobster, shrimp, oysters and mussels on beds of ice

Indian station: Featuring traditional specialties such as roti canai, naan, tandoori chicken, rogan gosh, and various kinds of chutneys, curries and spices.

Noodle and soup station: With a choice of flat, egg or vermicelli noodles mixed with vegetables, seafood laksa, chicken or beef broth.

Filipino station: Progressive Filipino cuisine focusing on traditional favorites, such as adobo, inihaw, laing, lechon and kare-kare, presented in a modern way.Mulia-Bali

Carving station: Features prime cuts of beef or lamb, cooked to the guest’s preference, with condiments, soup or pudding on the side.

Western kitchen: Includes a range of Mediterranean and continental main courses, using fresh herbs and organic meat, baked, grilled, pan-fried or steamed.

Pizza and pasta station/omelet station: A sampling of Italian favorites, guests may “create your own” and choose from red or white sauces with their preferred ingredients and toppings.

Asian wok and barbecue kitchen: A wide selection of Chinese and South East Asian favorites is delivered piping hot from wok and griddle. Traditional dim sum, roast duck, deep-fried tempura and wonton are popular choices.

Ice cream, fruit and native sweets station: Highlights a teppanyaki station for ice cream or frozen yogurt to be mixed and blended with an assortment of marshmallows, nuts, chocolate bits and sprinkles. Also includes seasonal fruit and the famous pot of taho (silken tofu dessert) with sugar syrup and tapioca pearls.

Dessert bar: Right across from the ice cream station stands a long bar that offers an extensive array of cake, cookies, candy, macarons, pralines, truffles, pies and tarts, all created by Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s pastry team.

H.E.A.T. has a seating capacity of 426 people, including two outdoor patios that offer garden and pool views. It also has four private rooms for exclusive groups, named after weather gauges: Celsius, Kelvin, Rankine and Fahrenheit. Being the main restaurant showcase, HEAT also offers regular regional and international food festivals. An extension of HEAT, the Pool Bar serves light snacks, sandwiches and savories from the restaurant’s main kitchen.
