The Fullerton Heritage precinct was abuzz with excitement and activity over the weekend as The Fullerton Hotel Singapore under Sino Group celebrated the 90thanniversary of the iconic Fullerton Building with the inaugural Fullerton Concours d’Elegance.

Held between 29 June and 1 July 2018, the event welcomed more than 30,000 visitors from all over the world. During the three-day celebration, guests were treated to an array of specially curated festivities, including the display of 12 rare and collectable cars from the collection of His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan and Sovereign Ruler of The State and Territory of Johor Darul Ta’zim, Asia debut of the latest Bugatti Chiron Sport, Concours d’Elegance, Leica photography workshops and fun filled activities from LEGO and Tamiya. Visitors were also treated to culinary delights by The Fullerton Hotel Singapore in commemoration of the Fullerton Building as Mile Zero, the reference point from which all roads in Singapore were previously measured.

A commemorative Mile Zero Marker, paying tribute to the significance of the historic building, was unveiled. The unveiling was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Lim Eng Hwee, CEO of the Urban Redevelopment Authority; Deputy Chairman of Sino Group, Mr Daryl Ng and Group General Manager of Sino Group, Ms Nikki Ng. They were joined by generations of Fullerton Building alumni, partners as well as distinguished guests.

As part of the celebrations, we are pleased to announce the following:

Celebrating the finest in automotive excellence

Twenty-six cars competed in the Concours d’Elegance, a world-class event where prestigious cars are displayed and judged based on appearance, originality and accuracy of their preservation or restoration. The winners from the three competition classes were:

Winning the hearts of fans was the 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 Roadster, which received the ‘Crowd Favourite Award’.

Support for President’s Challenge

A total of SGD200,000 was raised at the inaugural Fullerton Concours d’Elegance for the President’s Challenge. The amount was raised through private auctions organised during the Opening Ceremony Gala Dinner, Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner, and partial proceeds from ticket sales. Proceeds will go to charities, good causes, and social service organisations supported by the President’s Challenge such as Association for Persons with Special Needs and Dyslexia Association of Singapore. Some of the auction items included an exquisite Audemars Piguet timepiece and a specially commissioned painting by artist  Stephen Peng, presented by Gallery NaWei.

A tribute to the Grande Dame

In honour of the 90th anniversary of Singapore’s 71st National Monument, a team of LEGO Certified Professionals has spent 198 hours to construct the LEGO model of the Fullerton Building.  Weighing 500 kg and measuring 3.35 m (length) and 1.1 m (height), the impressive model comprises 478,500 bricks. It will be on permanent exhibition at the East Garden Foyer.

Creating new memories

The Fullerton Concours d’Elegance embodied the rich heritage and fine hospitality that The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is known for and served as a befitting celebration for the 90th anniversary of the Grande Dame. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore will continue to host a series of year-round events as part of its year-long celebration of the Fullerton Building’s 90th anniversary. Keep a lookout for the postal heritage gallery that will be debuting in the months to come!
