Now in its 26th year, the legendary Variety Bash is a 3700km, 10 day roadtrip of a lifetime, one which this year will see 350 participants travel the length of Queensland, all for a single cause – to raise money for Queensland kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/

The 2015 XXXX Gold ‘Coral Seas to Island Breeze’ Variety Bash departs Cairns on Wednesday August 5, and 3000km later, arrives on Fraser Island on August 14. Traveling the iconic roads of Queensland will be 126 cars – 77 Variety Bash cars, 34 official vehicles and 15 Auxiliary Workshop Vehicles (the magical mechanics who keep all the teams moving!!).

This year 77 teams will take part, with participants flying in from all over the country, many returning and some who have been in every Bash! Each has a fantastic story, a great vehicle and a reason for taking part (interview requests, imagery and more all available on request).  Of course all Variety Bash vehicles must be at least 30 years old and boast no performance enhancing modifications.

The ‘Bashers’ will depart Cairns and travel south west through Chillagoe, Kidston, Hughenden, Barcaldine, Lake Maraboon, Mitchell, Taroom, Gayndah and finally, Kingfisher Bay on the picturesque, Fraser Island, supporting local economies along the way, with community groups supplying food to the Bashers and the car convoy utilising accommodation where possible.

As with all of Variety – the Children’s Charity of Queensland events, there will be the integral mix of fun and philanthropy as the affectionately named ‘Bashers’ meet with locals – school children, parents and grandparents alike – to brighten their day and provide equipment and services to sick, disadvantaged and special needs kids along the way.

Since its inception in Queensland in 1990, the Variety Bash has raised more than $17 million for children and children’s organisations across Queensland. Accumulatively, the Variety Bash across the country has raised $200 million since it started 30 years ago. FAST FACTS: 2015 XXXX Gold ‘Coral Seas to Island Breeze’ Variety Bash

The 2015 XXXX Gold ‘Coral Seas to Island Breeze’ Variety Bash will start on Wednesday 5th August (departing Cairns) and finish on Friday 14th August, 2015 (arriving in to Kingfisher Bay).

This will be the 26th year of the Variety Bash in Queensland and is expected to take over 350 participants (or ‘Bashers’ as they’re affectionately known!) through the iconic Queensland outback.

The course will take ten days and cover over 3700 kilometres

The Variety Bash will visit the following towns: Cairns, Chillagoe, Kidston, Hughenden, Barcaldine, Lake Maraboon, Mitchell, Taroom, Gayndah and finally, Kingfisher Bay on the picturesque, Fraser Island.

Money raised helps Variety – the Children’s Charity empower Queensland kids who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to live, laugh and learn.

The Variety Bash started in 1985 when Adventurer Dick Smith took a group of intrepid motorists from Bourke to Burketown in their old cars, raising money for charity along the way, since then, in Australia the Variety Bash has raised $200 million for kids in need over the past 30 years.

Since its inception in Queensland in 1990, the Variety Bash has raised more than $17 million for children and children’s organisations across Queensland.

Every entrant has to raise a minimum of $8,500 as a donation to Variety. There is also an entry fee of $385 which includes GST and is not tax deductible and a provisions payment per person that covers meals and merchandise.

The Bash is not a race, rally or speed trial and all vehicles must be 30 years old or older at the time of entry and be non-performance modified

The single most significant rule of the Bash is to relax and enjoy the event away from everyday pressures, while seeing and experiencing the splendour of the Australian Outback and helping Queensland kids in need

The 2014 XXXX Gold Variety Bash raised an astonishing $1.4 million (net). This year over 350 participants travelling in 126 vehicles will set out to raise even more money for the kids!

Visiting a number of schools over the ten days on the road, the ‘Bashers’ as they are affectionately known, will help deliver much needed equipment to the schools and communities along the way, bringing smiles to the faces of the kids who will benefit from their generosity – Bashers across the country will inject $3 million into the rural communities they visit across the 10 day events (as well as additional spending on their return home).
