The Margaret River Region shines at WA Tourism Awards

The Margaret River Region set a shining example at the 2015 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards with a swathe of medals exemplifying the region’s high tourism standards.

Several local businesses were named category winners – the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro for Major Festivals and Events, Geographe Bay Tourism for Visitor Services, Koomal Dreaming for Indigenous Tourism, Vasse Virgin for Specialised Tourism Services, Top Drop Tours for Tour and Transport Operators, Southern Skydivers for Adventure Tours and Big 4 Peppermint Park for Tourist and Caravan Parks.

Bronze medals were brought home by Amalfi Beach Resort Busselton for Standard Accommodation and Fervor for New Tourism Development.

AMRTA Chief Executive Officer Pip Close was thrilled with the region’s efforts, and paid homage to its outstanding local tourism operators.

“The Margaret River Region has achieved some extraordinary results this past 12 months,” said Ms Close.

“I would like to acknowledge the exceptional tourism operators in the region – they certainly make our job in marketing the destination an absolute privilege.

“The imminent unified brand for the region will unquestionably further enhance its tourism potential; the future of The Margaret River Region is extremely promising,” she said.

The gala dinner ceremony was held on Saturday night at Crown Perth, and all category winners now progress to the QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards in 2015.
